... was a SUCCESS!!!! The little girl took 6 oz spread out over three bottles yesterday - by the last bottle, she acted like she had done it all her life. We started first thing in the morning and she took about 1-1.5oz in the first bottle, then 2 oz in the second bottle, then THREE oz in the third. DH was amazing with her - there was minimal crying - it was almost like she knew that we had made up our mind and she should probably get with the program because mom was close to having a nervous breakdown.
Along with all of that, since Friday, we have gotten her down for naps WITHOUT NURSING - she started taking the pacifier for the first time this week and i decided that i couldn't be the only one to lay her down for naps because it never allowed me to get any rest. DD is amazing - i am blown away by how easy she made this. Either i just wasn't tough enough and she was always ready for this or she decided that now was the time. Several of you ladies mentioned that your LOs started taking the bottle and the pacifier around 3-4 months so maybe we just reached the golden window.
I'm sorry, i know i'm gushing, i just feel like a huge, huge weight has dropped off my shoulders. I had these visions of her traumatized in daycare and me unable to go anywhere away from her until we had her on solids. I feel like a new woman! I went out without her for two hours for the first time since she was born... it was weird and (i think i may be crazy;-), i MISSED her so much that i was ready to snuggle with her when i got back.
We're continuing the bottle through the weekend - bottles until 2-3pm, then nursing. We'll see how it goes - Thank you all for the advice and the encouragement - it was needed and appreciated!!!
