Soy formula + Constipation = HELP!!!

So my little guys just had their 2 mos appt last Wed and I mentioned to the pedi that Cohen is very fussy and still not smiling , she suggested switching him to soy formula which we did and it has seemed to help a bit but now he is constipated. (We are using Enfamil prosoybee formula).

Just wondering if any of you had any experience and what rememdies helped? (I have put a call into the oncall nurse through the pediatrician's office but haven't heard anything yet).

I have heard that a little bit of pear juice in his bottle might help with constipation but I would check with your pedi since he is only two months.  My son's formula also constipated him so as soon he started solids we gave him prunes almost everyday which helped him a lot.  Good luck!

One of my twins is on soy as well. For constipation, our pedi said 1/2 oz of apple or pear juice with 1/2 oz of water once or twice a day. Our other twin projectile pukes juice, so he said that we could use Miralax. You just put enough powder just to cover the bottom of the Miralax cap with a 4 oz. bottle of water or Pedialyte. we had the same problem and pedi suggested soy which also constipated Alexis. We ended up switching to similac sensitive which helped with her fussy and spit up!

My ped said equal parts prune juice to water once to twice a day, and if it gets really bad, some stimulation with a rectal thermometer coated with vaseline.  My kids are also on soy formula, and I have found they have different reactions to different ones.  Goos start really clogged both of them, Similac soy liquid seemed to make them gassy, and now we're trying Earth's Best power, which seems to be ok.
