I'm Alexis, been married 2.5 years and we are expecting our first child June 7. We've decided to CD mostly for cost savings, but I really like the idea of not using chemical-laden sposies, too.
I've been lurking on this board even before we started TTC. You ladies have taught me a ton and I'm confident DH and I can successfully CD our little one. I've started buying an array of CDs to try. All of the OS diapers I've bought so far are pockets, and I'm waiting on a couple of AI2 shells. I'm not sure if we will do the prefold thing or not for the NB phase, DH and I are going to head to the CD store and see if we think we can manage. I've bought some KL0s and a couple NB AIOs. I was looking at Swaddlebees newborn AIOs and was wondering if any of you have used them. They are a bit pricier than I'd like for the newborn phase, but I like that they have a cord snapdown. So, any thoughts? I hope you ladies can put up with more questions around here, because I'm going to have some!
Re: Intro and NB diaper question
Newborn stuff has good resale value (because it's used for such a short time and is usually in great condition), so you could buy some more expensive things on the premise that you can resell. Or you could look at buying used.
Honestly, for newborn stuff we had gmd infant fitteds, some prefolds, and a few (like 5) AIOs. It was fine. A variety is good, but a huge variety will just complicate things at some point.
