I'm just curious what people's thoughts are on this. I've heard from some people that they wouldn't at all and others that they go by the drink till it's pink philosophy.
I didn't drink as much as I might have, but I did drink (like 2 glasses of wine instead of 4). Like LLCG, I also imbibed a glass of wine here and there while I was pg as well.

I am usually in the "drink 'till it's pink" camp, but lately I've been trying to cut back all month (except during my period). Not all for TTC purposes, but for weight loss too.
I've never had any perosnal experience but I always thought I'd be a drink til it's pink person. However, my brother is in med school and said he'd be really pissed if I did (he said he'd send me pictures) and he's the most laid back person I know so now I don't know. My grandma had an almost daily martini with my Dad her entire pregnancy and he's just fine so who knows. I guess go with what you feel comfortable with or ask your dr.
I'm pretty sure there's a new year's eve pic of me double-fisting beer and champagne the night before my bfp with DD.
My understanding is that until about 6 weeks pg, the embryo gets everything from the egg sac (corpus something?)--there's no interchange with the mother yet.
Yes, both times. With DS, I was at a wedding in Atlanta the weekend before I tested, and let's just say I had a LOT of fun. Back then I was a pretty regular (3-4x a week) drinker - not drink to get drunk, but a couple drinks a night, several nights a week.
This time I drank much less, but not not so much for TTC as for, I just don't drink much anymore since DS1 was born. No time, no interest, and admittedly, I used to drink to catch a buzz. Since DS1 was born, it seems I can rarely catch a buzz anymore, and just end up with acid reflux so I'd rather drink water. I have had a glass of wine a couple times and a beer once this pregnancy, but 2 of those times, I woke up feeling like crap so I just have no interest in it. (I am craving a margarita though, so even though it will be mid-winter when this one is born, I'm thinking a trip to Chuys for some margs sometime in January may be in order... And maybe some spiked eggnog for Christmas...)

I could totally be making that up.
I've read this too, except I have 5 weeks stuck in my head. Either way, it makes sense to me.

Grandmas are the greatest, aren't they? My grandma had 4 kids and she and my grandpa were both 2-pk a day smokers most of their lives. She used to tell us, "I can't believe all this No Smoking hoo-ey. In my day, I smoked and drank through all my pregnancies. Hell, I remember being in the delivery room, my legs in stirrups, puffing away on my cigarette between pushes!!" (BTW, all her kids were healthy, but were all smokers (all quit now) and a couple were/are alcoholics. FWIW)
Yep - I did, but we weren't actively TRYING to get pregnant at the time. I probably wouldn't have had I expected that I was pregnant. I am sure I had a drink or two even after the TWW was over.
I found out I was pregnant when I was about 5 weeks along... and took a pregnancy test specifically because my mom had bought a bottle of champagne for my birthday and I was starting to think I might be pregnant - so I took the test to figure out whether I was ok to drink it or not I was not. LOL
With that said - baby is doing great and having no issues.
We saw the Hangover 2 the night before I got my BFP. I don't know how I didn't have my own hangover the next morning because I drank almost a whole bottle of wine on my own.

This is what my OB told me when I 'fessed up that I'd gotten drunk while visiting ILs two days before my BFP (18DPO). I didn't get a BFP 'til 20 dpo because I wasn't testing, and I only tested because I wondered where AF was. We had started the IF diagnosis testing, and bloodwork from earlier that month showed I had not ovulated.
Had I believed PG was a possibility, I still would have drunk until I got a positive test. (I just probably would have tested sooner...)
Thanks guys! I was initially thinking that it was crazy to drink during that time period, but as the months tick by, I'm thinking that a drink here or there isn't that big of a deal that early on (especially since thus far, I'm not PG after all!)

Whoops. I didn't find out I was PG with DD until I was 9 weeks PG {that's a whole 'nother topic} and I was most definitely drinking heavily until I found out.
I cut back significantly the month I got pregnant. I drank like a fish in July and we didn't succeed. I have read that excessive alcohol intake can prevent implantation, so in August, I think I only had 2 drinks during the whole 2ww. Since at that point we were actually hoping for success, I figured it couldn't hurt to do whatever I could. I also stopped using Ibuprofen in August and switched to Tylenol.
Sara, have you read What to Expect Before You're Expecting?
Yes. I had wine and port a couple of days before testing. When I got pg with DD we were in Germany with DH's family - there was LOTS of beer/wine consumption. Drink 'til it's pink, I say!
No siggy pic until TB gets rid of Twitter and FB links
I say enjoy it now while you can! Even once the baby arrives you won't be partaking in too many adult bevs for awhile. I can imagine getting up at all hours while drunk/hungover right now:/

Re: Did you drink during your 2ww?
Yes. Copious amounts. The last time I was crunk up on it was when I was like 15 dpo. I didn't get a BFP til I was like 18 dpo. Yes, I was testing.
Take it with a grain of salt, though, because I also drank while full on preggo. Not crunk. Just a beer or glass of wine here and there.
Yes. It's the only way to survive the 2ww. I always tested early, so I probably had my last drink around 11dpo?
