1 more question. Who did/did not use a bassinet in their room at first? Suggest skipping bassinet and going right to crib? I've read/heard mixed things. Our bedroom is right next to the baby's room.
We did not use a bassinet, and had no problems. ?She has always been fine with being in her own room, and I'm glad we've all had our own space for sleeping -- I think it worked well for all of us.

We weren't planning on using a bassinet - a friend gave us one just in case and I LOVE it. I love being near him. But I am the one having a problem with him going to the crib - it terrifies me. He is fine with it and naps there during the day. He would be fine in the crib too - it's 100% mommy's hangup. You'll be fine either way.
I didn't plan on using a bassinet. Our rooms are right across the hall from one another and we had a video monitor so I wasn't worried about him being in his own room. But, he had different ideas...he didn't like his crib at all! We ended up with a bassinet until he was about 8 weeks.
