The red raspberry tea -- do you drink the tea that comes in the traditional tea bags (like Bigelow or Celestial Seasons brand), or is there something "better"?
Tried this last week....it did nothing. BUT I found out that you have to find Red Raspberry LEAF tea. Not just the reg. at the grocery store that is Red Raspberry Tea.
What she said (hehe) but you also need to drink it a lot and for a long time and it DOES NOT induce labor. It just strengthens your uterus. For it work properly you need to drink 2 cups/day during 2nd trimest and 3/day during the third.
I've been drinking Organic Raspberry Leaf Tea (brand: Traditional Medicinals) 3 to 4 times a day since I was about 36 weeks. I've seen it at various health food stores as well as in the Health/Organic section of Fred Meyer. Personally I'm fine with the taste, I mean it isn't really anything to write home about but I'm fine with it. I'm drinking it not with the hope that it will bring about labor but rather for the ways in which it supposedly strengthens your uterus. Apparently it can strengthen contractions... figure it's worth a shot. Here's hoping!

All of this. I am drinking 2 cups/day until tomorrow and then upping it to 3 or 4. It's not the best tasting tea in the world, but if it can contribute to more efficient contractions and easier labor whenever that comes around, I'm all over it!
With my last pregnancy, I used the Traditional Medicinal Organic version. I brewed it in huge batches and chilled it and drank it over ice. I prefer unsweetened herbal teas, but if you don't, try adding a little honey or agave nectar.

Sorry to burst your bubble, but Red Raspberry Leaf Tea is supposed to "tone" the uterus which takes lots of time. Your supposed to start drinking it at the beginning of pregnancy not the end. And it needs to be red raspberry LEAF tea which is only available in certain brands, like Traditional Medicinals and Yogi

You can also go to an apothacary shop, tea shop, etc. and get a big bag of loose leaf Red Raspberry Leaf Tea. I have been drinking it from this form because it only contains this kind of leaf and no additives. Sometimes, even the organic brands, have other ingredients in the tea bags. Not that they will hurt you, they are usually for flavor, like peppermint. But, I boil a big pot, strain it, and keep it in the fridge. That way, I always have a large stock of iced tea. I drink it hot too.
Oh - and I started drinking it very early on in pregnancy, not just the last few weeks. Who knows if it will actually help tone, or even then will help anything, but, if it doesn't, I'm really not out anything. Worth a shot!
