Please please PLEASE do not go on a diet! I started my pregnancy with DS at 125 and I am only 5'1''. I gained 43 lbs and my dr never said a word except "make sure you are getting healthy food in there and not just junk" and I was so all was good. I lost all but 8 in the first 6 weeks, then the rest the next 2 months. I know someone who tried to limit her weight gain and her child has always had size problems (especially in the head % which is really scary) 18lbs is WAY too low, I consider you to be slightly under weight at 125 and 5'4'' so I would say you should be more in the 35lb weight gain.
Just don't worry about it. Eat when you are hungry and try to eat something healthy like a greek yogurt which has lot's a protein. Smile and nod when you are with your Dr. I know it is hard to ignore them but please listen to all these smart women... you have NOT gained too much at all!
ETA- I hope the words "under weight" didn't sound offensive, I just meant that I consider myself thin when i am 125 at 5'1'' so I imagine you looked great being 5'4''.
