DH suggested Oliver the other night, and I think it is starting to grow on me. I worry that it might be too 'soft' of a name? We are looking for a FN or MN to pair with Jose (either Jose Oliver or Oliver Jose).
Love Oliver, but it's a little weird to me with Jose. The styles of the names don't match, IMO, but if Jose has significance for you, and you love Oliver, go for it.

I agree with this.

Love the name Oliver, it was my grandfathers name so I have always had a special place in my heart for it! I also don't like it so much with Jose but if that is what you and your DH like I say GO FOR IT.

Jose is DH and FIL's FN I've never thought of Oliver as a hispanic name, but DH insists that it is a fairly common name in Spanish-speaking world... We are having difficulty finding a name that isn't too Spanish, that pairs well with Jose. We also love Noah, but with Jose and a LN that starts with H as well, I think it is too much.

For whatever reason, Oliver is NMS. I've never liked it--I think it just reminds me of olives. Or maybe Cousin Oliver on the Brady Bunch ruined it for me . It is a perfectly fine name to use though, and I don't think it is too soft. I prefer Jose Oliver.
Re: WDYT of Oliver
I agree with this.

I don't. I actually really don't like it at all. Sorry!
