Baby Names

Caedmon and Camden

What do you think of Caedmon?  Not sure if I like it or not.

Is Camden really trendy/popular?

Which is better?

Re: Caedmon and Camden

  • I wouldn't know the first place to start when it comes to pronouncing Caedmon. I really dislike that.

Camden is just another in the "...den" trend IMO.

  • Caedmon sounds like the name of a Digimon. All the creatures' names end in -mon b/c its a Japanese, slang suffix for "monster" (also used in Pokemon, which literally translates to Pocket Monster).

  • Caedmon is a legitimate Gaelic name, but it just makes me think of the Christian band Caedmon's Call.  I don't like it.

Camden is okay.  I like the nickname Cam.

  • With all the names in the world, you come up with these gems?  I can't believe this is a serious post. Why would you name your kid either of these?

  • I like Camden. I think Caedmon is awful.
  • Caedmon is really bad.

Although this is a little harsh I was truly expecting this to be a 'names from Facebook' post. I strongly dislike both.

    Caedmon = NoNoNo

Camden = gang-infested hole in NJ.

    THIS!!!

  • They are both ok

    Deffinatly heard worse.

  • I don't even have words for Caedmon.

Camden isn't the worst name out there but it falls into the -den trend and all I think of is disgusting, crime ridden Camden, NJ.

  • I know a girl named Camden and I love the name. I could see it for a boy too. I'm from Baltimore and the father is a huge baseball fan so Camden Yards was inspiration, but it also has to do with the outdoors I believe? And I do agree with Caedmon sounding a bit Jamaican, but I kind of like it. I'm a fan of some of the Gaelic names. Just to give you a bit of positive feedback! :)

  • Wish I had seen this sooner!  I think Caedmon (we pronounce it cade-men) is better, because it's my son's name!

It means "wise warrior" and was the name of the first English poet.  It has history and a lot of meaning for us.
