Re: Do you believe in the paranormal?

  • I believe all of us have the "sixth sense" -- it's just whether you are capable of being in tune with it and/or channeling it.

I knew I was going to get hurt the day I got run over by a snowmobile.  I knew it about 4 minutes before it happened.  The rational side of me dismissed it.  But I can clearly remember thinking "Oh ***!  I'm going to get really hurt!"  Then I thought "Eh, I've been out riding all day without incident and we are on our way back now.  I'll be fine!"

I think a lot of the time, this happens (we dismiss our 6th sense by rationalizing it).

  • Absolutely I do.

  • My dad died 2 months ago, and I was home alone with the baby.  The following morning my side bedroom door just opened suddenly and there was no one on the other side.  He was very close to my DS so I do believe it was him.

DH saw "something" that following week.  My kids were in our bed and he says he saw a spirit right next to them.

    Absolutely I do.
this was exactly my response to your question.
  • I grew up next to a cemetary, so yes I do believe. We used to have weird things happen in our house all the time.

  • My 9 year old niece says she sees ghosts/spirits everyday.  I believe her.

  • Yes. When FIL died, about 30 seconds after the graveside service was over, an old warbird flew over. Everyone looked at me and DH, assuming we'd arraigned the flyover since we're in aviation, and it is not a normal flight path. In the 15 years DH has worked w/ aircraft and at airports, he said he'd never seen one w/ that livery,  it looked EXACTLY like the ones they painted w/ their dad growing up and hung on their ceiling, down to every little stripe. We def felt it was him telling us he was ok.

  • Have you seen the woman on TLC's show Long Island Medium?  She made a believer out of me.  That show is amazing.  I think there are a lot of people out there just trying to make money, but then there are also people out there with a true gift.

This just gave me chills (which is an affirmation)!

I LOVE Long Island Medium -- I want to go see her!  I also love Joe's reaction when I watch her show.  He will come in the room and EVERY time, "Oh, *this* chick again!"  Cracks me up!

  • I believe that wanting to believe something is very powerful and can be very convincing.  And that many things that seem to defy explanation just cannot be explained yet but will likely seem very clear and simple to future generations.

And my answer to the question is No. :)

  • Wow, veloelle. Love that story.

I do. I haven't always. I didn't until I am convinced that my FIL (wasn't my FIL at the time, he passed before DH and I married) came to me to make sure I was okay for his son. Twice.

And DD saw FIL just recently in the middle of the night in our hallway. She never met him (obviously), but told me he was watching out for her.

  • Yes, definitely. I have experienced a few things that cannot be explained away. And I like to think I'm a sane, rational person.

  • I didn't believe until I worked in a historic village for several years. A few times when I was in the old buildings (all original buildings in their original locations) there were sounds or lights I couldn't possibly explain. I was skeptical my first year, but as more things happened I eventually realized there was no rational explanation.

Ha. Second time this morning to quote you, S., but once again my answer is the exact same as yours. All of this.

    My answer is also no.

I do believe we look for the extraordinary in the coincidental.  I do, however, believe in the power of will to achieve the seemingly impossible.

  • It's always interesting to see these results.

I grew up with a family of women who were always having "experiences." My mom, aunts, grandma, all of them have pretty legitimate sounding stories. I believe because I accept that I don't know everything, and even though I haven't personally seen a ghost or an angel or whatever, I keep an open mind.
