Anything $hittier than signing your baby's death certificate?

Nope. That is about the worst thing I've ever done. The hospital finally released Connor's remains after finishing the genetic testing. We had to go to the funeral home to sign his death certificate so that he can be cremated. I didn't cry because I think I may be all cried out. It almost scares me how frank i was about the whole thing. I guess since we are going on 2 months now - I've had the time to process all of this and this was just another step towards moving on.  It was pretty surreal though. I had nightmares about it last night.

(((hugs))) I can remember picking up Haleigh's ashes. It wasn't the toughest part of our loss - but it was definitely up there.

The lady at the funeral home was freaked because I just sat down on the floor and had those body wracking cries that can't be silenced. I finally calmed down and was able to try to sign the paperwork (including the death certificate) and she kept asking what I needed. I finally snapped and said "If you could go and bring my baby back to me, then I would be pretty fantastic." I know it wasn't her fault, but that was probably one of the worst things I had to do. Ugh...

*hugs*  I never had to sign it.  I think DH might have done it without me knowing.  But I did need to get a copy of Logan's birth certificate and death certificate for some paper work.  I prepared myself mentally and emotionally, but that didn't matter.  Receiving the death certificate was the easy part.  It was the truth.  I could handle that.  Receiving the birth certifate was different.  As it unraveled in my hands all I saw were the semi-blue-transparents letters written across the entire length of the birthcertificate diagonally "DECEASED."  Isn't a death certificate enough?  You have to write deceased on his birth certificate too?

I'm sorry, hun.  My heart hurts for you!!!

They told us in the hospital that we will receive the death certificate before we receive the birth certificate.

I was so out of it that I don't remember signing it. I remember having to sign a bunch of stuff at the funeral home so maybe that was in there.

I think picking up the ashes/funeral was harder on me but getting the official birth/death certificates in the mail was def. a dark day.
