Are stronger cramps a side effect of progesterone? Anyone else experience this?

Re: Cramps?
I had a lot of strong cramps in the beginning. I remember one morning, probably at about your point, I woke up almost crying from them. They went away a little after the 5w mark for the most part and so far everything is going great with this pregnancy. I am on 200mg prometrium two times a day.
There have been several times throughout this pregnancy where I automatically think "Oh, I'm about to start my period." Even though I knew I was pregnant, and I think it's even happened since I started showing. I hate the word "cramp" because it has such a negative connotation. But that's the best way to describe them, and they are normal. I was also on progesterone supplements, but I have no idea if they were connected or not. I hope that helps!! Deep breaths.

I've been experiencing cramping on and off since I first got pregnant. They were definitely worse at the beginning and more frequent, and felt exactly how you are describing. In the past week or so they have started to taper off (See my post from this morning "Freaking Out a Bit"). I am also on Progesterone, but I'm not sure if that is a side effect of it or just a PG symptom. Hang in there, from what I have been told and what the Dr. has said it is totally normal, just your body making room for baby
I'm so emotional that I'm almost in tears just typing this message. Lol, what's wrong with me?

I had period like cramps through week 16 or so. I know how you feel. I was also on progesterone but I don't think that affected it.
I was told by my OB that the scarring from my D&E was likely a factor to why I was feeling so many cramps. She reassurred me all the time that it was just from my stretching ute.

You're pregnant, its the hormones!
I had a lot of cramping and sharp pains around my cervix at the beginning, as well as spotting for the first week. It was terrifying but it was just the little one settling in for the long haul! I hope it eases up soon for you and you can relax... or at least worry about something else! The joys of Pgal! *HUGS* Hang in there!
I have had cramps in my lower back and lower abdomen on and off since yesterday. Getting up and stretching a bit has helped but if I wasn't pregnant I would certainly pop some advil myself. Hang in there!
