Hey I'm currently a stay at home, and trying to deal with what I should do with my twins (who will be 18 months when baby is here).....just wondering what you are doing, or planning to do?
I currently work full time and am submitting a proposal to drop to Part time 35 hours a week after this baby arrives. My plan is to work a split shift so I work in the morning (with the kids at their in-home day care provider) then have the afternoon off from work to spend with the kids. I will then work an additional 3 hours each evening after the older boys are in bed and DH is home to tend to the newborn.
It will be hectic but I think it will strike a balance between earning an income and getting more time to spend with my family.
My twins are 5! My baby is 3!
DS#2 - Allergic to Cashew, Pistachio, Kiwi
DS#3 - Allergic to Milk, Egg, Peanut, Tree Nuts and Sesame
We have hired an Au Pair (through Au Pair Care, but there are other reputable agencies). She arrives 12/12, the babies will be just 6 weeks old... I won't go back to work for another month after that though...
An Au Pair lives in your house, you pay their room/board. You pay agency fees + a $176/week stipend. It averages out to aout $315 a week. She (or he) can care for all of your children (most agencies = up to 5 kids max) for no more than 10 hours a day, no more than 45 hours a week.
It's worth looking into, at least - especially if you have the room in your house.
I've "only" for twins, but I work M - T for 32 hours a week. I took a 20% pay cut, but it's totally worth being able to have that extra day with my girls. My parents watch them the other days, and I don't think they could handle 5 days straight.
Mom to Abigail & Liliana -- Identical Twin Girls -- April 2008 Baby #3 due September 12, 2014!
Thanks all for your comments....I'm thinking about putting them in a Monterri school 3 days a week for half days, then hiring a mothers helper the other 2 days. Still working out the details, I have time.....
