Remind me why I don't order pg test online???

I just went to my local grocery store to pick up some stuff.  I used my last pg test last month (without DH knowing...I promised not to do that anymore...oops!), so while I was at the store I picked a box up to store in the cabinet in case DH were to ask me to test and expect me to do it right then and there.  Silly, but whatever.  Anyhow, I hate the look -- or the avoidance people get with they're checking you out and see you have tests (or lube or opks!).  Our grocery store has found it necessary to hire only 16 year olds.  The girl who was cashiering was one of this young "innocent" talkative type.....the kind that asks what you're making for dinner with the myriad of items you're buying.  She proceeds with "Is this a good or bad?"  I was puzzled, then she repeated the question as she bagged the pg test.  My response "Hopefully good."  I thought it would end there.  NOPE! 

Cashier: "A good yes or a good no?"

Me: *thinking* WTF!  "Good yes."

Cashier:  "1st?"

Me: *pause* "No, second, hopefully."

Cashier: "Really?  You don't look like you've ever had a baby."

Me: *thinking* Compliment or insult? "Well, my last baby was born at 25 weeks.  It didn't take long to lose the weight."

Cashier:  *pause*  "Oh, well good luck."

 

GAH!  I thought she was going to make me spell out that my child died.  Hopefully she paid attention in Sex Ed and health class and realized that pregnancies are supposed to last 40 weeks.  Grr.

Thanks for letting me vent!  From now on, I'll be order multiple quantities online or make sure I get in a line with an older cashier!!!!

Awkward. I'm sorry that she was so dumb. I always feel weird buying pg tests at the store but I've never had an conversations like yours. I usually just try to avoid eye contact and pay and then run.

Yes! Online is so much better!!! I sometimes think Cashiers should just keep their mouths shut about what you buy. I'm so sorry you had to deal with that.

I hate when I get those cashiers who comment on what I buy. Sometimes it makes me want to go back into the store and get depends and hemorroid cream and see if they comment. If I don't buy them online I usually get them in a store where I can do self check out.

I'm sorry you had to deal with that.  After TTCAL for 2 yrs now I've learned its easier and cheaper to just buy online in bulk and you avoid stupid people like this! ((HUGS HUGS)) love.

I've had the same thing happen-I bougt HPT's and Coke (of all things) and the cashier was like, are these for a celebration?  Who says that?
