I had no idea this would prove so hard. We have been in 5 houses and were shocked to see how bad they are. I grew up in a rough area of town, so I thought had low expectations, but 3 of the houses had mold.
Also, I thought most rentals came with appliances, but apparently not. The dog is a stumbling block too. I'm worried that if she has to live with my parents that she will die. When she's not with us, she goes on hunger strikes.
Re: Have the hardest time finding a rental
How stressful!
Is living with your parents an option?
Are you only looking at rental houses? If you are, ditch that and go for an apartment. It may be cramped, but it is short term. Also, you're taking a risk on that landlord, just like he's taking a risk on you.... there are just as many awful landlords out there as there are awful renters. Switching to an apartment may allow you to be in a better area.
If you're not using a realtor, try that as well.
