C-sections

6 days till scheduled c/s

ok, i've got 6 more days until my little boy is here! I am getting more and more excited but still very.......nervous and scared about the surgery. I get worked up easily and sometimes faint when I am scared. Any ladies out there have any tips on how to stay calm and collected throughout the procedure?? anything would help, thanks!! Tongue Tied

Re: 6 days till scheduled c/s

  • I read a lot about what the process was and what would happen.  I asked my doctor a ton of questions about how she does c-sections.  If you would like you can read my birth story and recovery story.  Both can be found in my blog.  Link in siggy.

  • I just held my DH's hand and looked at him during the surgery.  the surgery is fairly short, I was more anxious during the pre-op monitoring for nearly 3 hours.

  • The good part is once the surgery is started your dh or whoever will be with you will be there  until the baby leaves the room. when i had my first c i was exhausted and they gave me a bit of something to sleep for a wee bit and then when i woke up the anestaeologist kept me distract and was chatting with me. The second C; i was awake for everything and talking to my ob, nurses etc.

for me the scariest part is the epidural/spinal; which my ob held my hand both times. Anyone associated with birth knows it can be scary so just talk to your ob and the nurses are great from my experience.

  • A focal point. For me it was my nurse. She was amazing. She knew how scared I was, and would stop, rub my head, and talk to me and make sure I was doing okay. Best of luck to you!
