The doors are always locked and 99% of the time our garage door is down. This a.m., i was taking down some halloween decorations and left the garage door up.
Ethan and i came inside, i was cleaning up some stuff downstairs and after a little bit he went up. Not thinking much of it, i walk upstairs to see what he was getting into and he wasn't there. The door to the garage was open and of course, the garage door was wide open.
Ladies, i have never screamed so loud in my life. One neighbor was outside in his yard and i ran over to my other neighbor and they began helping. The 2 minutes felt like 2 hours. One little boy that goes to a montesorri (just a few houses down outside of our cul de sac) was out of school today and found Ethan trying to get across the street. (Our street isn't busy but it doesn't matter.)
I just wanted to share b/c i learned this lesson the hard way. I was so stupid and careless. I am so, so, so lucky.

Wow, that's scary. I've lost my kids before--M in public (my mom found her yelling from the bathroom that she was pooping), and B in our house in the middle of the night (she climbed in my bed at the foot of the bed, under the covers and was sound asleep snuggling with my dog). It's absolutely terrifying.
I keep the alarm set because Maile is an escape artist. She doesn't do it as often now, but you just never know with her.
