5-10 min bfing a preemie?

DS  will be 6 weeks this week (Due Date was Nov 21) and we are primarly BFing except for a couple bottles a day...for the most part he only nurses for 5-10 before he is done.  He's only taking one side.  I can pump 2.5 oz per side in the same amount of time so I know I have good supply and it can come out plenty fast.  He's content and falls asleep for 2.5 - 3 hrs so it seems he gets enough.  His wet and poopt diaper count is fine.  It seems like he's getting what he needs, but just seems like not long enough especially considering he's a preemie.  Anyone else have a fast eater at this young?

we've only been out of NIcU for just over a week and so only have had 1 dr appt, but from what I can tell from using my kitchen scal (goes to 1/4 oz) he's gaining just not as fast when he was in NICU (maybe from not getting the BM fortified to 24 cal ? for almost all feedings)

ANdrew was a quick eater too, but I had an oversupply and overactive letdown so he sort of had to eat quickly! Is his weight gain good?

pretty sure this is me too..I know I could pump for than 2.5 oz per side and the first let down is somtimes too much for him and he refuses my nipple and gets a milk shower in the process of....

My son was born at 33 weeks and its still exactly what he does. We are now having problems with a foremilk/hindmilk imbalance and giving him tummy issues. I have too much milk and he is getting too much foremilk.

One of the hardest things about BFing post-NICU is wondering what the weight gain/intake is every day. You get so used to the daily weigh-ins! As long as he is having good weight gain (averaging 1 oz per day) and plenty of wet diapers, you can assume he is getting enough. If either of those changes much you can talk with an LC.

Ditto my ds was the same way.  I have oversupply and quick let down and once we got the hang of bfing it was almost always less then 10 min.
