I hope you ladies don't mind, I'm a normal poster on the Multiples board but I have a question that I was hoping you could help with.
A co-worker of mine found out yesterday that the China government has approved the adoption of their daughter, I believe she is in the 9-11 age range. They are making plans to travel to China in January. In the meantime, I'm getting a collection together at my office for a gift for their family but I'm unsure of what would be an acceptable gift. When I had the twins my office all chipped in on a Babies R Us gift card, so I would like to do something similar. I was thinking a gift card to a clothing store, or toy store? The problem is I don't know what style clothes they would like to buy or if they already have toys from their (biological) daughter.
So my question is, in this situation, what would be an acceptable gift? I'm thinking I can get about $200 from the whole office, so that's my range. Thank you in advance for the help!
Re: Adopting from China (gift ideas)
I like the idea of activities. It will be good for them to spend family time together in different settings to facilitate their bonding.
I love the book idea and the zoo pass idea If a gift card ends up being what you plan to do (which I am sure the would LOVE) I think for that age range Target would be a great place to get it. Maybe depending on the amount you have do a book and gift card
Their new daughter/son may also like going to build a bear (if you have one in the area) it would be a nice activity for them to do as a family and the stuffed animal choosen by their new daughter/son would be a great keep sake!
Love that you and your co-workers are honoring them as they become new parents!
