Trying to Get Pregnant

Is this normal?

This will be a slight graphic post so if that may offend you please don't read. I was pg about a month ago and then had a very early miscarriage. Well during all of this I started to feel around my vagina because I was making sure everything was ok IDK....but I don't ever put my fingers in there. I did this time and I guess I just want to make sure I'm normal because I had a pap smear done in Feb. so I can't afford another one until this coming Feb. Anywho when I stick a finger in there, it curves. As soon as it goes in, there is a fleshy area on the top of the inside of my vagina and I have to curve my finger around it. Is that normal? I thought a vagina was a straight shot. I guess I'm worried that it could be cancer or a cyst. If you have this also please lmk so I can stop freaking out! It's a firm area but not hard. It has ridges on it and does not hurt at all.

Re: Is this normal?

  • The best way to explain it is like a backwards c   like ) but on the upper wall of my vagina...

  • Either you are fine or I have a problem too. My guess is that all is well...
    Mommy to N (3), J (2), and C (10 months). LO4 is due in mid-September.
  • I think somewhat of a curve would be considered normal - As per the picture below you can see that everything is slightly curved towards the front of the abdomen

Also depending on that position you are in when you are checking internally that could slightly change the internal position of things. HTH

I wouldn't worry too much about it at this point. Just keep it in the back of your mind until the next time you have a phyicial and mention it to your doctor then and see what they think.

  • If your worried you could ask your H if it feels different. He should know your anatomy pretty well.
  • If you are talking about a spot on the inside of your vagina, as in the front side, I have that too.

  • I'm sorry. You mean you really have NEVER explored your vagina before? And you think that by fingering yourself you'll be able to tell if everything is ok in there?

  • Do any of you ladies know what a cervix is??
  • Why would you need to wait for a pap smear? If you have a vag lump they can check that out without a qtip to your cervix...
  • It's not my cervix, I know that's in the back of the area...this is right up front. And NO I'm not saying that! I felt something abnormal and wondered what everyone's opinion was. And yea my DH says that everything feels like it always has lol...I'm just crazy
  • If that's the case, just go to your gyno. You don't need a pap smear, just have your doctor look at it.
  • This post is just...weird. On multiple levels.

Have you seen the Yahoo Answers post where a bunch of women think that their cervixes (cervices?) are some sort of cancer? LOL

    I call that a g-spot.  Explore it, it's fun!

    Yes

  • Ditto the G Spot. Whether it is the end-all-be-all for the female orgasm is up for debate, but the actual spot exists. It's small, maybe about the size of a dime or smaller, and the consistency of the surrounding tissue is different. For some women, pressing on it brings intense pleasure, for others it's nothing.

OP, and to all the other lurkers, I'm not making fun, but I cannot for the life of me understand how women don't explore their bodies more often. I understand that many of us were brought up believing that it's wrong to touch yourself, but exploration is not masturbation. If you haven't done it already, or frequently, get a mirror, turn the heat up and go hang out in bed. Get up close and personal with yourself. Feel everything you can get your hand to reach. It's not gross, it's your body. It's a good thing to know. Seriously, not making fun, but imploring those of you who don't know what your labial lips and vagina look like, check it out.

And if you have fun while you're down there, all the better.
