What age did you start giving milk?

Did you follow what the books say and wait till a year old? Did you give sooner than a year old?

If you decided to give sooner than a year old why?  If you choose to wait why?

DD is 10 months old and DH wants her to start drinking milk.  He doesn't have a reason why he just feels she is old enough for her to be drinking it.  I have heard many opinions about when to give milk.  I just wondering what everyone else has done.

We waited until the pedi gave us the go ahead at a year. No real reason, I just didn't see the need to give any before that (he was FF)

We waited until he was about 14-15 months. I wanted him to get through the winter b/c he's very skinny I wanted to make sure he was getting as much nutrition as possible.

I started giving dd 2% milk right after she turned a year old.  The reason being, I was breastfeeding, so she was getting the nutrition she needed from the breast milk.

I started with a couple of oz a day at 11 months. I did it because I knew it would take forever for him to like it---  he was a boob man. I was right. He's still not a big milk drinker, and he's been weaned since 14 months.

I introduced it a couple of weeks before his 1st birthday.  He wasn't fully on milk until a few weeks after his first birthday.

I started weaning DS from BF at about 10.5-11 months.  That is when he started getting milk.  It took a few weeks before he really drank much at all though. 

I didnt want to wean him to formula and then have to wean him off of formula onto milk right after.  He did just fine with it and didnt have any problems at all.

11 months because I exclusively breast fed her and she was weaning herself from me only 2-3 feedings a day and I wanted her to get nutrients that are in milk.  So I continued to bf her until 13 months but then also introduced whole milk to her.  Pedi said at 1 year to give it to her.

Her first bday, she is small, I wanted to keep her on fat-building-formula as long as possible.

We started giving him cows milk at 15 months. ?DS was 100% BFed until that point and we knew that he was getting all the nutrients that he needed from me at that point. ?We slowly started introing cows milk and he took to it just fine at 15 months. ?Now at 22 months he is fully weaned and drinking about 24 oz of cows milk a day.

My oldest DD was 9 months when she weaned from a bottle.  My oldest DS was 10 months when he weaned from BFing.  My youngest DD was 11 months and so was my youngest DS.   I weaned from BFing at that time so figured I might as well go to whole milk instead of getting into formula for a month.

We gave it at 11.5 months because we were running low on formula & wanted to see if she would transition so I wouldn't have to buy another can! (it's so expensive!!!)
