DS is circ'ed, and this one will be as well if it's a boy. My OBGYN did his, and he slept through it. There were no issues afterwards. He had the plasti-bell. It's a very personal decision! Have a talk with your DH or SO, and weigh the pros and cons after doing some research.
Snipping for sure - Daddy is, so why have LO be different? This has been done for how many years? It is everyone's personal choice, but I definitely think snipping is cleaner on so many levels.
PS... the whole "turtle neck" thing weirds me out...
You were implying that because your friends had psychological issues because they didn't get it done, that your son would have them too, and you wanted to spare him of those issues. Assuming that other boys will care because two people you know cared, is whats wrong. I don't think its wrong to have chosen to get the procedure, but to choose it strictly based off of the fact that two people you knew had issues, is a different story. That's why we were trying to point out that that is not always the case, given that we know people who have not had that reaction. You were the one who implied it was wrong to not do it based off your friends having psychological issues, and that seems silly. I'm not assuming some people who dont have it done, dont sometimes wish they did... but I wouldnt assume that they would because your friends had problems with it.
DS was at 2 days old. Honestly, no big deal. They took him for less than 5 minutes, he came back, nursed and fell asleep. Never saw any adverse effects. It makes it easier for you to take care of and keep clean as a parent, and much easier for him when older.
