Failed amnio this morning (XP from birth board)

Unfortunately they were unable to get a sample.  Between the membranes being strong and the babies getting in the way and my placenta being anterior AND posterior -- it just wasn't right.  The needle through my ab though felt just like when you press down on a bruise -- I'm sure I would have felt more if it had gone through the membrane but I'm glad it felt less bad than I thought.  I was so scared, and the doc and radiologist were on either side so Jake couldn't hold my hand or anything.

 

I'm incredibly disappointed and have to reschedule everything for next Monday.  This includes work and kids yoga -- kind of a hassle.  but it's better to keep the babie safe, I know.  I hope next week is better.

Oh sweetie thats, horrible.  I had CVS testing with both pregnancies.  They spent a better part of two hours trying to get my samples.  I had to fly out of state to a specialist to do mine so, they did spend extra time so, I wouldn't have to fly back.

The were able to get Landry's vaginally which was a ton better but, Hudson's had to be done abdominally and it was very painful.  I can empathize.   They had all but, given up and by sheer luck they babies moved to where they were able to get the samples they needed.  The doctor had to call the nurses back in the room really quickly when she saw they opportunity present itself.

I'll be thinking good thoughts so they're more successful next week...I know your so disappointed and will be anxious about it.  I hate that for you.

I am so sorry it didn't work out!  I can only imagine your anxiety. I hope everything works out well on Monday.  Were you able to watch on the u/s as they were doing it?

I had my eyes closed doing yoga breathing, haha. My husb was able to. He saw the needle and how it tried to go through.

 

Afterwards we got an awesome "tour" of the babies from the radiologist.  She was awesome.  She did some far-too-early anatomy measurements and we got to see some cool stuff.  I think she could tell we needed cheering up, haha!

My amnio with B was almost failed, but in the end the MFM was able to complete it.  I totally know how terrifying it is to be lying their with the needle inserted and "waiting".........It still turns my stomach to this day.

I'm just so sorry you went through that.  It's agonizing, and I was able to have mine completed.  T&Ps that Monday is quick and easy.....my amnio with A took 2 seconds, so it can be done.
