metallic taste?

I just thawed some frozen milk. Its about 4 weeks old, and had been in a deep freezer. I smelled it all as it thawed- smells fine. I placed it in bottles, and the noticed after a feeding it had a different smell. Not bad by any means. I tasted it- has a metallic after taste. Is that a lipase issue??? I never noticed this with other frozen milk I have used. I feed two bottles so far, and LO takes them fine.

WWYD? Use it? Check other milk from random dates?

Re: metallic taste?

  • it's lipase. As long as your LO is drinking it, it's not a problem and don't start on a metallic taste milk hunt.

  • I had this happen a bunch too - LO drank it just fine. I also realized that it was better if I froze my milk sooner so I only kept it in the fridge for 3 days.
