I live in a three story house. The TV room and play area are in the basement where we keep a pack n play. A bouncer and/or swing are kept on the main floor and the third floor has all the bedrooms and nursery.
We move through out the three floors all day long so I'm wondering if a Moses basket would come in handy. LO will be 20 months when baby comes. At that age (typically speaking) can I expect her to walk up and down the stairs by herself (under my supervision) or should I expect to still carry her plus the baby on the stairs? This is what has me wondering if a Moses Basket would be helpful.
And if you found a Moses Basket to be helpful, please recommend yours.
Re: Moses Basket?
They are but I agree with the other poster that you don't use it very long. With DS1, I dind't use it at all b/c he was 9lb 12oz at brith. He hated it and it was june so he got hot very easily. DS2 was smaller and loved it the first 6-7 weeks then didn't want to be in it.
Honestly, I would start now teaching your oldest to go up and down the stairs. My boys are 15 months apart so DS1 was a little younger but we taught him early how to do our stairs. By 7 months pg I could barely pick him up and carry him up/down the stairs. I was so thankful we taught him how to do it himself.
I would choose a sling over a moses basket for carrying an infant.
As for going up and down the stairs, I guess it depends if she gets enough practice. We never put up a gate in our staircase and let DD go up and down as she pleases (obviously with one of us there to watch her/hold her hand). By 20 months, she was quite efficient and didn't need us to carry her - we do have handrails that are easy for her to hang on to, though.
