I feel like I am out of control saving things for Whitney. I have a giant tote already full of things..All her premie clothes, because they are so teeny tiny, and how can I get rid of them? My favorite pajamas she wore, her first pair of shoes she barely used, the dresses my mom bought her..etc..etc..
I was sitting here looking at her Halloween costume thinking I am going to put that in her tote too. Why?! lol. Because its darn cute!!
I think I have a problem. lol, I know I dont have to get rid of this stuff right this second, but I feel like I am hanging on to waaay too much.
Re: Saving things
I'm with SweetHurricane.
I don't think I've talked about it much over here, but my parents are pretty much a couple piles of crap away from being on one of those shows about hoarders. My mom has already sent me SO much stuff, and while some of it is sentimental and makes sense (stuff crocheted for me, my christening gown), most of it was capital J-U-N-K. It's really hard to know that she saved all this sh*t for me for decades, and now I have to be the one to have to throw this trash the f*ck away.
So far I've saved her tiniest preemie outfit, her first Lambie picture outfit and one of her first pro pics outfit. Everything else has been sorted... gender neutral things without elastic or polyester fibers to dry rot have been put into tubs to save for the next kid. I have like, not even a quarter of a tub so far, lol. If we don't have a next kid they'll join the rest, which is either with friends who've had little girls recently or at Goodwill.
I have known people like this. It is scary. But the way you worded that was perfect, and I literally lol'd in my cubicle.
Go on bethyla, mock my pain. *sob* Thanks for the compliment, heh.
As I've gotten older it's been a struggle for me to figure really random things out on my own. Like how often normal people mop the floors, for instance, or how often to clean out the fridge (which I totally don't do often enough because omg ewwww). But as a result I definitely try to throw out or give away as much as possible for Joaquin.
I saved a ton of stuff when DD was little, but once she turned about 2, I realized that I couldn't do anything with it anymore. I gave away everything except what I felt was important -- first outfit, first shoes, hospital bracelets, blind folds used when she had to get under the light for jaundice, her Christening outfit and a baseball that she picked up at an Indians vs. Red Sox game. I have all of this stuff in her keepsake box. I debated about the Halloween costume, but eventually have it away.
As for DS, I pretty much saved the same thing so far - first outfit, first shoes, hospital bracelets and Christening outfit.
