friggin zipper PJs

Ok, so i've now posted maybe 3 or 4 times about how much I hate zipper PJs and how I wish I could find snap up footed PJs in a size 12m or up... but SERIOUSLY. I friggin despise the zipper onesie pajamas. I broke down and bought a bunch because I have no other options. P is outgrowing his 9m comfy onesies. I thought we'd adjust and I'd see why everyone loves them and thinks the zipper is so great, NOPE. It's been about a week and I want to burn every pair.

I hate that you have to either buy them too big, or put in one leg, that arm, the other arm and then the last leg to avoid twisting your kid's limbs like gumby. I also hate that you can't just whip his legs out for a quick diaper change, you have to basically fully undress the poor thing. And it snowed here, so it's chilly.  I also don't like that the zipper part feels so stiff and sticks out when he's sitting or laying a certain way. And the top of the zipper digs into his fat little chin when he's in a reclined seat.

Are snaps really too difficult? What is it about the 12m size that deems snaps inappropriate? Is it that extra inch in length? Would you need two more snaps to make it work? Maybe there's a limit to the amount of snaps you can use on one garment, by law?  I'm looking online to find DIY patterns for kids footed PJs. FML.

ok, rant over.

I also miss the snap jammies.  What is with the elastic around the ankles of the zip jammies?!?!?  So frustrating

I'm the opposite, only for the reason that LO wiggles and squirms/rolls so much that trying to dress him can be a full contact sport.  One quick zip is so much easier than the snaps, for us.

Put in the leg on the non-zip side, then the other leg.  Then slip the arms in.  When I change a diaper I leave the arms in and just flip the bottoms off.  If you really want snaps have you considered doing a onesie and separate pants?

This is us too.  I like snap for the reason that you do, because I only have to undo his legs to change him, but he is rolling all over the place and crawling away right now.  Zippers are working so much better for us.  If you don't like the zippers, just buy the two piece sets and put socks on him.  I always think the younger babies look so cute in them. :)

This is exactly what I do.  I hate messing with any one piece outfit during the middle of the night.  Plus my LO just looks more comforatble in them.  For me, the two piece outfits are definately the way to go!!

I love the zippers!  We have a crazy man who flips.  I put a onesie on underneath at night so if I have to change his diaper, he's covered.  I don't take his legs out of the pajamas unless he's pooped.

We do have some 2-piece sets, but he hates socks. Well, maybe he loves them? he tries to eat them and they end in his mouth and soaking wet. I don't know if it's possible but i'm afraid he'll choke on his socks.  And even if not, the wet feet will get cold. For some reason he doesn't find footie PJs as tasty. In the summer I don't mind him not wearing socks to bed, but I really need his piggies to stay warm in the winter!

And I know- those little elastics on the zipper feet are annoying! My hubby loves the ease of the zip instead of snaps but curses the ankles every time he does a diaper change!

My LO used to wake up with BOTH LEGS in the same hole in the 9 month snap pj's.  Now with the zipper pj's with the elastic feet they stay on the appropriate leg!

ETA:  As far as the zipper poking into his chin, I've never seen any zip ones without the button flap that is for holding the zipper down.  Do yours have that?  I love the fleecy ones from Children's Place, Carter's and Gerber (although Gerber runs a size small).

Why didn't I think to do that? then we could even leave the top unzipped an inch or so, so it won't dig into his chin! He's already asleep, but I am doing this tomorrow! THANK YOU!

You can get snap ones at Walmart for 12 months. I also found a few at Baby Gap. Those places are harder to find them at though, Costco sells Pekkle ones that are awesome all snaps, up to like 18 months i think they are awesome!

I totally get what you are staying about being tougher to get them into the zippered pjs but I have a lot of problem with keeping DS in the snap ones. Maybe it is just the Carter pjs I have but once i put DS down he will move and squirm and kick during the night and on many occations I have found his poor little legs to be competely bare when i checked on him since he broke free of the pjs. I really need more zippered fleece pjs.

yeah I'm with you. I loathe the zippers. it is a struggle to get my squirmy guy in them.  I have to bend his leg so bad to get it in. then the zipper is so hard to zip up his chunk and cloth diaper. even though he is squirmy I still prefer the snaps. but I need more fleece pjs and they seem to only exist in zipper.

Agreed. Also, I always miss a dang snap somewhere, which isn't an issue at bed time, but is a hassle if she wakes up in the middle of the night.

Down with snaps. Long live the zipper. :-P

Zippers all the way here, too. Especially once DS became very mobile. Not only were they a PITA to snap while he tried to roll, but his feet kept escaping in between snaps when he would try to get around or stand up in his crib. The elastics around the ankle help kept his feet in place as he crawled/cruised and now walks.

I hated zippers, but DS is already well into 18 month jammies, so I had to get used to zippers a long time ago it seems. I don't really think he's particularly bendy- he definitely can't get his own feet into his mouth- and I've never had a problem getting his legs in and leaving the arms in the sleeves. Every pair that I've owned has had the tab over the zipper also. I definitely wouldn't buy any without it! I've found The Children's Place fit him the best (the feet seem bigger since Carters are too small for his giant feet!) and they're also super stretchy which probably helps with the legs. I bought a bunch of the Carters polyester ones which didn't stretch and then realized that the polyester was bothering him. So the super stretchy cotton works the best. I have a one piece snap outfit from ON and I HATE putting him in it during the day. I'll leave him to play for a few minutes and come back and half of it is unsnapped!!
