C-sections

Keloid scars and c-sections..

Do all c-sections result in a keloid scar? I was just wondering because it has been 10 months since my c-section and my scar turned into a keloid : ( I was just wondering if it was the norm for c-sections.

Re: Keloid scars and c-sections..

  • No. Keloid or hypertrophic scaring is a genetic thing. Some of us are unlucky. I have a raised scar as well =(

  • No. My mom forms keloid scars, but I do not. It is totally genetic.

  • I'm prone to keloids and was kind of worried about that -- my mom has a pretty bad keloid from her (vertical) c/s with my younger brother.

But oddly, my c/s scar has healed much better than some smaller scars I have -- it hasn't turned into a keloid, it's quite flat, and it's even starting to fade into my skin at the ends at little. I know it'll always be a very obvious scar, but it has healed way better than I expected.

  • Mine was a nasty keloid and stayed raised an red for 1.5 years. DS just turned 3 and only now is it finally flat and turning silvery.
