Babies: 6 - 9 Months

Sitting up

DS has been sitting up unsupported for a little over a month now, and when he's lying on his back, he does... I guess they're baby crunches? That's the best way I can describe them. But he hasn't quite figured out how to get from a lying down position into a sitting position, though he goes from sitting to on his belly or into army-crawling with no problem.

I'm just wondering when I should expect him to be able to sit up from lying down because I realized today that I have no idea when that milestone's expected to happen! After he stands, walks, in two days, when? Obviously I mean approximately because of course every baby is different. :)

Re: Sitting up

  • DS just started sitting up on his own this week.  He went from the crunches to the side crunch position and then finally figured out how to sit up.  It took about 2 months probably.

  • Henry isn't doing this yet.  If he is down, he's down.  lol.  I have no idea when babies typically start pulling themselves into a sitting position.

  • Chloe just moved to side crunches but still hasn't mastered actually sitting up.  I can't wait for her to figure it out because she'll yell at me to help her when she can't do it herself!

  • Morgan is tripoding now like a champ, but she's not sitting unsupported quite yet. That being said, TWICE today (and for the first time) she pulled herself up from a semi-reclined position (lying back on cushions) into tripoding.

  • Heh, so I guess it's one of those whenever it happens things. I can deal with that, but yeah, I was asking because I keep getting yelled at whenever he wants to sit back up again, too. :D
