Breastfeeding

One of the problems with bottle feeding...

My mom thinks its OK to give LO 10 oz bottles at a time because she wakes up at 1130 and 530am from a cold and the bottles help to "sooth her". I gave my mom 30 oz of pumped milk to be used from 5pm last night to 9am this  morning and I get a text at 6:45am saying "I hate to tell you think but I only have 5oz of milk left! How the heck  is that possible!? I KNOW Lo was not so hungry to eat 25oz in 13 hours + some solids. Ugh I feel like all that pumped milk was wasted. I told my mom please DO NOT GIVE LO THE LAST BOTTLE! If she is fussy its just because she has a cold, especially since she just had 2 5oz bottle back to  back a few hours ago.

Poor LO got a cold overnight while Dh and I were away but sometimes I wonder how my mother made it with my brother and I when we were growing up.

  • Holy crap that's a lot of milk.  I'm surprised she didn't spit most of it up.

  • I hate when other people think it's okay to soothe with food, just because it makes you happy doesn't mean it's good for the baby! My MIL is the worst with this too. And DS has been off the bottle for 6 months.

  • We have to leave bottles pre-filled with specific amounts that we know DS can finish because she wouldn't be persistent enough with feeding when he was younger and would let him quit after only 2 ounces and then the rest would go bad.

I can't wait for the "im getting a divorce" post in 5 years or so because your husbands were fed up with your disgusting chair asses from playing on the knot all day and getting fired 4-5 times for not doing any work. you guys are all winners!! ~ Laur929

  • OMG! That's a ton of milk - especially overnight when I assume LO was sleeping.

  • My DH's grandmother does the same thing and it drives me nuts!  I had to lay down the law about overfeeding because all those extra ounces are going to waste.  I'm surprised she didn't spit the majority of that milk back up.
