Very weird periods/spotting while weaning - help!

I am in the process of weaning my 8.5 mth old... I am down to pumping twice per day. 

I got my period on 10/4 for about 5 days and then ANOTHER full-blown period on 10/18 (2 wks later) for about 5 days. Now I'm spotting again with red blood. ughhhh... has anybody who has experience weaning know anything about this type of situation?

My daughter isn't fully weaned (still nursing before bedtime), but I have experienced the same issues.  I called my gynecologist and she said that it's normal while you're breastfeeding to get really strange periods that will go away, and then randomly come back a few days later. 

 It's happened to me several time...In September, I had my period for 3 out of the 4 weeks of the month.  It would go away for a few days, then come back, etc.  (I also had some BC issues that caused it.)  It was SO annoying!!

You can always call your doctor if you are worried!
