Hi ladies
I have been lurking here for a while, Im a new FTM to a 7 week old baby girl who is EBF (no bottles, no pumping). For the past 2 weeks every time I start leaking I have a terrible pain with it that feels like Im being electrocuted in my breasts. I am a very heavy leaker, and even though she eats every two hours I still leak in between feedings. I usually feed from only one breast per feeding to try to get her to empty it. Does anyone else experience this? My mom said she had it when she was breastfeeding me and my sisters, but had no idea how to relieve it, she just lived with it. I guess I could too, but I'd rather not.
Re: pain with leaking?
I had this for a few months this time around. It eventually resolved its self. But I do remember it being painful at times. I tried to look for some info on how to relieve it but couldn't find much. And decided that I would just deal with it, because I didnt want to stop bf.
Contact a local a LC or LLL, they might have some answers for you.
Occasionally I still have a painful let down, but not like in the beginning. Maybe you'll get lucky too and it will lessen too.
And I also over produce too , so maybe there's a connection?
And I remember with my first I leaked A LOT too for the first few months. I don't think it has anything to do with the frequency of how often you feed. Usually that lessens with time too.
