I've had a spacer before, but not this time. Took it for the first time and gagged so badly I almost puked (I have a sensitive gag reflex). Am I doomed to have a spacer everytime I need an inhaler?
Most people do not use an inhaler correctly and do not get the correct dosage because of it. Our asthma dr recommends all his patients use one
if you dont have a spacer my recommendation is exhale, put the inhaler in your mouth and take 1 puff (try to keep your tongue down so the med doesnt coat your tongue) and take a deep long breath in and hold it...then repeat for your 2nd puff
but i would use the spacer so you can get all the meds because in an asthma attack it really matters
Tilt your head all the way back when you actuate the inhaler. It'll make it easier for the puff to go straight down your throat rather than coat your tongue.

This. We just went to the pulmonologist for DS and they "lectured" DH about not using a spacer
Re: How to take an inhaler without gagging

I don't know if I can. I seriously ran to the sink because I was gagging so badly. It's awful.
