I called my OB today, since we never discussed how long to wait to get pregnant. I probably thought at my six week appointment that I was one and done. I also figured I'd just do a RCS. I thought my recovery would be better if I don't go into labor and I would know what to expect.
I'm slowly changing my mind, though. VBAC seems the healthiest route. FWIW: OB said I was an excellent canidate for a VBAC, even though I didn't go into labor on my own after my water broke, and I didn't dilate past 6 after 12 hours of Pit.
Anyway, I spoke with a nurse today, just because I was curious what my OB would recommend(we aren't ttcing at this exact moment). She said 3 years between c-section and VBAC attempt would be ideal, although they understand that isn't always possible. She did speak with the OB and returned my call(I wasn't home). I will call back on Monday to see what my OB really recommends.
Three years between deliveries sounds like a long time, even though we aren't TTCing at this exact moment.
Re: 3 years for a VBAC?
My doctor would have let me VBAC if I went into labor naturally and my deliveries were under 13 months apart.
If you want kids closer than 3 years apart and VBAC is important to you, I'd call around and find another doctor who would be on board with your family plans and VBAC.
GL!
I've always heard 18-24 months, never 3 years.
By the way, we have a separate board here for VBAC, feel free to come post over there.
I think 18 months is actually the standard recommendation.

You might also want to find your local ICAN group and see how VBAC-friendly your current OB is.
DS2 - Oct 2010 (my VBAC baby!)
I do lurk on the VBAC board. Once I get pregnant(if we decide on number 2), I will post there!
