Babies: 6 - 9 Months

What shots did LO get at their 6 month appt?

I can't find the sheet the pedi gave me and I'm just curious but they're closed for the day.

  • Same as before, but with the flu shot added in if you opt for that.  Nothing should be new.

My LO did.  It's the rotavirus vaccine.

  • It depends on which Rotavirus vaccine you got.  One of them requires 2 doses and the other requires 3.  My LO got the 3-dose vaccine, but had a bad reaction to the 2nd dose, so the pedi decided to skip the 3rd dose for her.
  • Gotcha, thanks. I noticed on the CDC recommended schedule the Hep B "window" starts at 6 months and the polio is also in a recommended window starting at 6 months.

Mine too. It was the same shots as the four month appointment, w/ the flu shot added in.

props to having a good doctor not imposing upon your baby the vaccine after a bad reaction, seems rare these days

  • Ours was the same as the 2 month shots, which included a Hep B booster.

I wasn't very comfortable with the rotavirus vaccine in the first place because it is a live vaccine.  It was so scary seeing my LO vomit repeatedly and then dry-heave because she had emptied her belly.  I realize this was a mild form of what can actually happen if a child gets the virus, but I wish I'd have researched that one a little more.  I do love my Pedi.  No matter what he'd have said, I wouldn't have given her the next dose, but it was good that he agreed with me.  props to having a good doctor not imposing upon your baby the vaccine after a bad reaction, seems rare these days
