I think it's getting worse. Seems that way to me anyways since I just found out yesterday that I no longer have a job as of 11/7. I work in staffing and it is bad when the people who help find jobs, lose thiers.
I see alot of retailers going out of business, esp the mom n pop stores. It is sad.
I think it will get worse before it gets better. Europe is starting to decline even more, which is why the market was down more today. About 1/2 the states are in a recession, and more probably will be before it is all over, some states, like California that have hugely inflated house prices compared to the real wage will continue to be hit with falling home prices. As for the overall economy, these things are cyclical. The economy will recover. My advice is to start fully funding your 401K, since it is a great time to buy.
Definitely going to get worse, especially towards the end of the year.
I think a lot of retailers will suffer, especially this holiday season when they are used to seeing most of their profits. Mom and pop shops such as my own are f*cked.
I think it will get worse before there is any turn around. I would guess a good 9 months from now it may start to go back to normal. I think there will be a lot of job loss in the meantime.
I believe that all of the wealthy people are waiting for the market to bottom out, and at that point you will see a surge in the market like you have never seen before when they start to buy back the stock for nothing.
I think it is going to get a lot worse before it gets better. I think a lot of people are going to lose their jobs, and a lot of small businesses are going to fail.
I know personally we're watching the market and buying low - and just when I think it can't go lower, it does.
Also, I'm a shoppy shopper, and I am AMAZED by some of the sales places are having. It's almost crazy, especially from retailers that rarely have sales like that.

I see things continuing to take a downward turn until the election in 2 weeks. Then things will plateau for a while and eventually start to SLOWLY improve. There will be some additional banks/business that will fail during this time as I don't forsee any add'l bailouts. I really think most of the issues are just driven by mass hysteria from the media and all of the impending change from the upcoming election.
Re: Question: What do you think will happen to our economy??
Yes, I see it getting worse.
I don't think the government is going to be doing anymore bailouts after this last bailout package.
I think that a lot of retailers will not survive. We have cut down on spending dramatically and I'm sure we're not the only ones by any stretch.
Liam is 5!

It's going to get worse.
And if they start taxing the rich even more --- you know, the ones that still have money to spend --- it will get even worse!
I hope there are no more bailouts --- and from the looks of it, I don't think there will be.
It will be a tough year for retailers however, like E said, I think consumers (those that still have money to shop) will benefit from that!

That's my naive, uneducated opinion.
