Rec your regular nipple cream...

Since DS was born just about, we've been dealing with thrush/yeast. I finally have him under control and my nipples are just about healed. (After trying a million different creams and finally landing on APNO and diflucan) - question though...once I'm done treating it, I'm planning on using a regular nipple cream. I used pure lanolin in the hospital but I feel like that somehow helped the yeast grow (maybe it's just in my head?) - what do you use on a regular basis/how often?

Re: Rec your regular nipple cream...

  • Nothing in lanolin would help the yeast along, but I use the Medela nipple cream when I use it, which isn't too often anymore.

  • I used lanolin once but then a friend recommended using my own breast milk. It's amazing how well it works for me. I've haven't suffered from cracks or tenderness again.  My DD is 9 1/2 months and still nurses 5 times a day.  Hope it helps you.

  • I like Motherlove, you can get it on Amazon. Lanolin never worked for me.

  • I use the all-purpose nipple ointment recommended by my LC - it's equal parts Bacitracin, Lotrimin, and Cortisone cream.

ETA: oh, I see you already use that. I still use it regularly, probably once a day.
