I am throwing a baby shower for my BFF in a month and I am looking for some unique shower game ideas. It is going to be smallish, maybe 10 ladies, possibly less than that. I think we are going to do the old standby string game, but I am looking for 1 or 2 other ideas to keep people occupied.
Did any of you do a fun game at your shower you would recommend? TIA!
Re: Fun baby shower game ideas?
I like QC's idea... that is cute!
I have to be honest, after having been to probably a dozen baby showers in the last few years.. I HATE the string/toilet paper/ribbon game. It just takes forever. It might just be me, but oh well. hehe.
At showers I've thrown, we've done the "guess what kind of baby food is in the jar" (with the labels removed) game... Eh. not exactly thrilling either, but kind of fun (especially when you buy weird flavors of food that are hard to guess). Another variation of this is to guess after tasting the baby food. Uh.. not thanks.
We also did a game where you had to match the animal name to its corresponding baby animal (like Cow--calf, horse--foal, Goose--gosling, etc, etc) I remember winning this one once because I knew that a baby swan is a "signet" (no idea why/how I knew that, but oh well.. hehe)
The biggest hit so far for me has been Baby Bingo.. you make cards with all sorts of things from the registry or items the mom is likely to get as gifts at the shower. The guests play it while she's opening gifts (gives them somethign to do, because let's face it, it gets boring after a few minutes). For example, one block might say "blue onesie.." if/when she gets a blue onesie, anyone with that block would mark it. We played until the first 3 winners (and gave prizes). It was more fun when we'd make it specific like that (ie: instead of just saying "onesie")
Just a thought! In all honesty, I was hoping my friends who are throwing my shower next weekend would just forego all games.. but no such luck. Not sure why, I usually don't mind them per se, just not feeling it for my own shower, for some reason! But I think all in all, most people don't mind, and often enjoy, a shower game or two. :-)
But good luck, whatever you decide to do!
I like the baby picture idea but we talked about it and decided there were not going to be enough people for it. I have done the baby shower bingo once before and that was fun and a good way to keep people interested while the guest of honor was opening presents.
I suggested the baby food game but she doesn't want to taste baby food. She mentioned the game where you melt candy bars into diapers and that one honestly just grosses me out.
There was one that I found where every guest gets a diaper pin to pin on when they arrive and the goal is no one is supposed to say the word baby the whole shower. If you catch someone saying it, then you get to steal their pin and the person with the most pins at the end wins a prize. Is that lame? I am trying to come up with something not cheesy. But it's hard.
I like this one... people really get into it sometimes too! And it's fun because you can play it throughout the whole shower.
My variation of the baby food game didn't involve tasting it--just looking at the jars (which had the labels removed). We put a white label over them, and numbered them, and passed them around.
Have fun!!!
I vote for the "Don't Say Baby", and the baby food game. We played Don't Say Baby at a recent shower I attended, and it was good. Instead of diaper pins, they had plastic pink baby necklaces that everyone wore, and the goal was to take the person's necklace if they said Baby. I guess the person who ended up with the most necklaces got a prize.
We played the baby food game at WendyNC's shower and it was pretty fun! We played it the way MrsHughes did, instead of tasting, we just guessed and had numbers on the jar.
