reverse cycling and sttn ?

can they coexhist??

wednesday was my 1st day back to work. we nursed in the am around 6. she took the 4 - 3 oz btls for my mom every 2 to 2 1/2 hrs with her last bottle around 3 pm. i nursed her at 5, 6:30, 8 and 9:30 until we put her down for bed around 10.

yesterday - started the same routine except she only drank 3 of the btls for my mom and slept almost a good 4 hr chunk in the day between her 2nd and 3rd btl. i nursed her around 4:15 when i got her. then she was practically attached to me for the rest of the night. plus we had to side nurse/sleep on the floor of her room until almost 1:30 this am.

please tell me she is just trying to get use to the change in routine. it could be growth spurt time, since she was 11 weeks yesterday. since we have a toddler at home and stuff to do around the house on evenings i really can't afford for her to be attached to me from 4:30ish to 1:30ish in the am.

if you have a reverse cycling baby, do/can/will they sttn?

Re: reverse cycling and sttn ?

  • My daughter is almost 6m old and she started DC at 3m. I sent 3 4ounces bottles at DC. She usually drinks them all. Sometimes she may leave an ounce or so.

We are back together at around 5pm, and even if she just had her bottle she will look at me and start fussing because she wants to nurse.NOW. lol... So now as soon as I get home I nurse her.

Then she takes a long nap until 7 when I nurse her again and then at 8 I bathe her and she nurses a little and we play.  By 9pm she's sleep and she won't wake up until 140am. At that point she comes to my bed and stays there with me. She will nurse again at 3AM. and then at 6AM is my last nursing session before going to daycare. Anyways when she wakes up in the AM, is only to nurse so as soon as I put her in the boob she nurses with her eyes close. Since I nurse her on my bed in the AM it's easier for me to rest.

I have an 8yo that needs me to do hmwk, eat, etc... so I know what you are talking about. Well, my daughter naps maybe 2 times for 15-20 minutes in daycare. So when she comes home she's exhausted 'cause she has not slept enough. So when I nurse her at 5 she takes a nap all the way 'til 7 which gives me time to wash bottles and do hmwk with DD#1.

Anyways I would tell your mom to try to keep her awake so when you get her she naps for a good time and that way you get to do what you need to do.

    HTH!

  • Maybe she needs an earlier bedtime?  When my LO started daycare, her bedtime was 9pm but within the first 2 weeks, she'd moved it to 7pm.  I get her from daycare at 3:30 so I nurse her at 4, 5:30, and 6:30.  I do small chores around the house in between (holding her though).  Once LO is in bed, we cook dinner and relax, etc.  That would be a good time for homework?

  • My baby did this when she started daycare and it was painful. We finally had to sleep train -- I don't mean CIO per se, but we basically set limits on when she could eat at night. We tried to reset her body clock so she wouldn't feel hungry all night long and would be "forced" to eat during the day. To do that, we made her wait gradually longer intervals between feedings at night. Your LO might be too young to start that though ... (we waited till 5months).
