TTC After a Loss

- HPT?

I m/c Monday morning after taking Cytotec last week.  I took a hpt Tuesday (yeah, I know) and it was still positive.  I just took another one 2 days later and it's negative... well, barely positive.  It looks exactly like my 10 dpo test looked, which was positive but so faint I didn't believe it.

How long did it take for your levels to drop?  I passed a small piece of tissue yesterday morning early, and I haven't even spotted today.  Can this be real?  It would be great if this really sucky cloud had a silver lining!

Re: - HPT?

  • I had a D&E and I got a + 7 days after and 2 days later got a negative.

  • So sorry for your loss. How far along were you when you m/c? Did you m/c naturally or need a D & C? Its very possible to still have a positive only a week later...even longer. My levels took almost 4 weeks to drop after my D &C. Hopefully your levels drop quickly! Good Luck!

Add...Sorry just realized you mentioned taking the cytotec!

  • I was referred to the teaching hospital for a bunch of issues, never saw the same doc and never really got any answers.  I saw a sac at 5w4d, and there was no hb at 7w4d.  They didn't tell me when the baby stopped developing but I heard the resident say the fetal pole was only 3mm long, so my google research told me that the baby died at 6w3d.

I had no signs of m/c at that appt., and started Cytotec at 6w5d.  There is faint (like strain your eyes to see it) line, but that's it.

I'm not going back to University.  Honestly, I was more traumatized by the care I received there than the m/c.  I've been communicating with my GYN because I refuse to go back there.  I think he's going to order labs tomorrow but I couldn't resist the opportunity to pos, and couldn't believe I only got one line!

  • I am so sorry for your loss and what you went though. Experiencing a m/c is hard enough, much less to have to deal with additional drama. ((HUGS))

  • I just wanted to say that I am sorry for your loss.  I know it doesn't seem to be a good thing, but the silver lining here is that the sooner your HCG levels drop, the sooner your body can start preparing for AF, which ulitmately will lead to your being able to TTC.
