Ok so we're definitely moving up her feeding at night to 5 or 5:30pm. Solids that is, then what are your routines after this. Does ol play for a bit then bath then book and bed? Or straight to bath...
Just curious...trying to give dh more time with her and he gets home sometimes at 6 or 6:30.
Re: Bedtime routine and time?
My Blog: Naturally Mindful
We have just started solids, but this seems to be the routine we are falling into:
5/5:30 solids
6:00 bath/massage/maybe a book
6:35ish-7, feeding/wind down time (she takes a 7-8 oz bottle here)
7:00 bed.
She STTN 7-6:30/7
My DH gets home about 6 each night. He usually does her bath so he gets some time with her, but DS also demands his attention so we kind of tag-team the whole eating dinner for ourselves/bathing both kids/putting both kids to bed. I totally understand the part about your DH wanting more time. Try letting him do the bath and see if that helps.
We haven't started solids yet (planning on avocado slice today!) But our schedule is something like this
Either at 7 or 7:30 (depending on how late his last nap was) I nurse him.
Then we go get PJ's, a fresh diaper, and a sleep sack on.
We read books and sing a song.
Then bed. He usually falls asleep between 7:30-8.
Some of this depends on when her last nap was at DC, but usually:
5:30-solids
6:00- play
6:30-7:00- bath, lotion, jammies,
7ish-6 oz bottle.
We are doing Ferber and it was going well, but then DD got sick, so we are redoing. Currently she falls asleep 7:15-7:45. She sleeps USUALLY until 6:30ish, but the past few days poop and coughing woke her right at 6. BLAH! I usually leave her in her crib for 30 mins before getting her and she plays.
I get home from work at 5pm and DH usually leaves for work somewhere between 5-6pm depending on the day, so I handle all the evening stuff. She has been not taking the bottle much during the day, so she kind of loads up on food in the evening.
5pm- nurse
5:30- play time
6pm- solids
6:30- bath, pjs, story, nurse
I put her down sleepy but awake - 7pm
She's usually up once during the night to nurse (again, this is probably because she doesn't eat much during the day while I'm at work) and I wake her around 6am so I can feed her again before I go to work.
That is my husband's biggest problem too--lately it seems like she wants to be asleep for the night by 6:30-6:40, before he gets home. And honestly, no matter WHAT I try to do to push it 7--it just doesn't work. Yesterday I had to put her in the crib to get her bath ready and make her bottle. I put her in the crib at 6 o'clock and when I went to get her two minutes later, she was asleep!
The only good this is my husband works later in the morning, so instead of the evenings, many times he goes to work at 10am--and has the morning to spend with her.
I get home with her around 4.
4 o'clock-I feed her a 4 oz bottle (her "snack")
4:15-5:00 play time
5:00/5:15 solids (she is just having cereal now)
5:30-6 winding down time (books, cuddling, play mat, tummy time)
6:00-bath
6:10-6:20 getting changed for bed/book
6:20-bottle
I really can't adjust it much. Unfortunately she isn't a good napper during the day. if we are lucky, she takes a 1.5 hour nap all day long, and she is INCREDIBLY active and moving, so by 6:30 she is just exhausted and ready for bed.
5:30 cereal
6:00 - 7:30 play or nap (lately it's been nap)
7:30ish bottle/book/bed
On bath nights we do bath after DD, so around 7:30 & bed around 8:00.
