DD2 is 7 1/2 months and she still cannot sit unsupported. She can tripod for about 30 seconds but that's about it. She loves tummy time and is really close to crawling. She can sit in a high chair and will sit up while holding on. I'm feeling a little defeated that she is still not sitting without holding on to something. I have not mentioned this to her pedi as her last appointment was her 6 month and I wasn't worried about it yet. Her next appointment is her 9 month but that's not until Dec 12th.
We had to hold her back a little for 4 weeks due to a fractured femur that we didn't want to aggravate but that has totally healed (completely cleared by specialist 3+ weeks ago) so I would think that she would be advancing pretty quickly at this point. Would you be worried? Would you make a separate appt with the pedi for this?
Re: 7 1/2 months - still not sitting unsupported
I wouldn't be worried at all either. My DD has had no physical limitations, and is just now starting to sit unsupported for about 30 seconds at a time at 7 months, but usually needs to hold on or lean on something for balance. I actually was just at my pedis office this week for something else and she thought her development was great.
I bet he will be doing it in no time! And like pp said, I think up to 9 months is completely normal.
A friend's kid didn't sit at 7 months, but rolled all over the place. The next time I saw her at 9 months she was sitting and crawling. I'm sure it'll come.

Thank you ladies! I was just hoping that the fractured femur hadn't set her too far behind her peers. Sounds like she is still within the range. I appreciate your responses and reassurance.
