Hello! I am currently looking around for some pediatrican groups.
So far I have visted Johns Creek Pediatrics, Preston Ridge Pediatrics, and I will be visiting Dunwoody Pediatrics soon.
So far, each one seems to have it's advantages/disadvantages. I just feel so overwhelmed and want to make sure I choose the right place for our baby girl due in December. Any recommendations and why? My husband and I care about bedside manner, but we also want to make sure we're going to a really good doc. Does it matter if they come to the hospital the day the baby is born? Does it matter if they have an on-call nurse to answer questions or whether you're directed to a nurse at Children's Healthcare of Atlanta? Please help! Thank you!!!
Re: Need Pediatrician Recs in the Suwanee/Alpharetta/Johns Creek Area
We take our little ones to Pediatric Assoc. of Johns Creek and I love them. We usually prefer to see Dr. Carroll or Dr. Teague but all of them are great. They don't come to the Hospital but you would take LO when they are 4 days old. The staff is awesome and I love Dr. Carroll because she is helpful, yet laid back. She makes you feel comfortable and definitely puts your mind at ease which was great for me because when my kids are sick, I get anxious.

They have Saturday sick hours and their staff is great about getting you in for sick visits. We have been very happy.
I take my 3 children to Roswell Pediatrics. They have 3 offices (Crabapple, Old Milton and Cumming I believe); we go to the Old Milton office. We now live in Dunwoody and I drive about 25 minutes to take them there but I have been going there for nearly 10 years and I feel so comfortable with the doctors.
They have Saturday sick hours at the Old Milton office and a triage nurse who calls you back during the day; after hours and on holidays it varies. Sometimes I will get a call back from one of the office physicians on call and sometimes from one of the Children's nurses, but that has never really bothered me--- either way, they're always able to give me good advice and tell me if the problem's urgent enough to warrant immediate attention.
The staff is made up of a number of pediatricians and also several nurse practitioners. I personally love the NPs, and schedule my well-baby and well-child visits with a couple of them who have come to know my family and seen my children grow.
My children have had a couple of problems requiring referral to specialists and they always know exactly where to send me, help me with insurance, etc. I really trust them. I would not worry too much about whether they have privileges in the hospital where you deliver-- for example, I had my last baby at North Fulton and he was just seen by the neonatologist on staff there, then I set up my 2 week appointment with Roswell Peds.
I know that they have an "open house" type thing for expecting parents to learn more about the practice-- you might want to look into that!
Good luck!
