Question about freezer stash

I"m about to go back to work next week and I have about 7 week worth of milk saved in the freezer for him for when he goes to the sitter.  My question is about thawing and mixing milk.

After I thaw the milk, can I mix the milk together?  For example.  I will be leaving 3 4oz bottles with the sitter.  So if I have 2oz that was pumped on 10/22 can I mix it with the 2oz milk that was pumped on 10/26?

Re: Question about freezer stash

  • I believe so.  This was my plan in case DS didn't like the taste of the frozen (he doesn't even notice though).  Most people freeze in small quantities, smaller than I would think their LOs drink.  The only thing I would consider is that fresh milk is good at room temp for longer than I would keep thawed milk out, and in the fridge too for that matter, so just keep an eye on it in case he doesn't finish them and when it comes to sotring the bottles.

  • You can combine frozen milk from different days.  Frozen milk needs to be used within 24 hours of thawing.  You can also combine frozen milk with BM in the refrigerator, but the same rules apply... frozen milk needs to be used with 24 hours of thawing.
