antibiotics during bf'ing?

I have an infected eyelid.  Just wondering if either of these antibiotics are ok to take while bf'ing:

macrobid & cephalaxin (sp?)

BFP#2 2.5.11 (EDD 10.15.11) DS born 9.28.11

BFP#4 8.27.13 (EDD 5.6.14) DD born 4.23.14

  • Just to be safe, I would get some probiotics in your system to prevent thrush.

  • Thanks for the info.  I'll look into the probiotics as well.  Definitely don't want thrush if we can avoid it.

I have an appt to get the eyelid checked out tomorrow morning by my doctors.  I'll ask about the antibiotics I asked about here when I'm there...figure if they are alright to take might as well save some hassle/$$.

  • Of course you can up the amount of yogurt, etc...to get more probiotics, but they sell some over the counter...the one I have given my LO is Florastor for kids, they sell it for adults too...it comes in packs of 20- so you can take 2 for days- the length of most antibiotic treatments...good luck and hope you feel better soon!

  • I was on cexphin(or however you spell it) for mastitis.  IDK if it was the mastitis or the antibiotic but it did cause supply issues. I just worked it out kept feeding and pumping and my supply went back up again.
