TTC After a Loss

So...getting the show on the road...

Well, it has been 9 weeks since the miscarriage and no period- that I know of.  I say that because 3 weeks ago, there was a teeny, tiny, miniscule amount of blood that never required a panty liner and lasted about an hour.

I had seen the dr after 6 weeks, told me to wait another 2 or 3 more.

Called back today, asking them about it and told them about the little bit of blood.  Nurse practitioner said she and the dr would talk it over and call me back about starting me on provera.  They didn't call me back today, but what's a day or two more in the grand scheme of things?

Could anyone possibly share their experiences with provera?

Thanks ladies!

  • I have no experience with provera but I just wanted to say that I hope AF shows up soon. It's so frustrating having to wait.

  • I don't have any experience with provera either but if I don't get my period before my next appt (next Friday) I know my doctor will want me to take it because my cycles were so long before the mc.

Hopefully you O before the doctor has a chance to call you back! Wouldn't that be nice? Waiting on an irregular cycle is so frustrating and overwhelming.

  • So totally feel ya hun!  AF hadn't shown up (not even the tiniest spotting) for 9 weeks myself...I called the Dr and they put me on Provera, I read up online about it and was a bit scared of the side effects (since its a hormone I was afraid of what it would do to my emotions, breakouts and such) well I was to take 10 pills for 10 days, it did make me break out a bit more then usual but nothing I couldn't cover up, and the emotions- well chalk it up to PMS ;).  and AF did come to visit only 5 days after starting to take it.  (I stopped taking it when AF showed her face).

Hopefully youll be able to get AF to show soon!! I know what its like to really just want to move on.  Also, the Nurse I talked to about the Provera did say we could try again after taking it, but they don't count AF from the Provera as an actual period- so if I were able to get PG this cycle (yeah in a dream!) they wouldn't really be able to know my due date off of that.

  • The first two times in my life I've taken provera AF came within a few days of taking the last pill.  The 3rd time was after my first m/c and it didn't do anything.  They gave me a 2nd, higher dose and it brought on AF that time.  They say it can take up to two weeks after stopping the last pill for AF to show up. Good luck, I hope you can get back to TTC soon!

  • So sorry you are waiting so long, I hope it comes for you soon!

I don't have experience taking Provera but I have had very long irregular cycles in the past so after my most recent m/c the doc started me on BCP for one month to hopefully avoid tha long wait and hope to regulate somewhat.

I have heard 8-9 weeks should be the longest you should wait before taking provera so hopefully you hear back from your doc soon and you can get started on your way. Best of luck!
