If you have a side by side or tandem stroller why do you prefer it over the other type? I'm thinking ahead and not sure which would be easier to deal with transporting or getting around town. They both seem to have pros and cons. Thanks!
We got a SBS jogging stroller (the BOB double)... it fits through doorways (which was important to me) and has better maneuverability than the tandem stroller style IMO... plus i like that they are both within reach, not one sticking way out. And I would like to be able to go jogging/walking with them.. Just my preferences. And you're right, they both have their pros and cons..
We have a lightweight side-by-side stroller that stays in my SUV for when we're out and about, and a full-size tandem that I prefer using for long walks. The tandem one is more comfy for the kids, and they really appreciate (especially DD) not being right next to each other. It's also easier for me to manuever.. but it's BIG, and the lightweight stroller is more convenient when we're on the go.
I have the city select. It is tandem. Love it. Can be a single or double, light weight, huge basket, wheels lock for power walking, easy to get through crowds and all the configurations. I still use it a few times a week and DS1 is 3.5
I love our P&T sport. It fits everywhere and is easy to maneuver and super light (about the same weight as the chicco stroller that comes w/the travel system). My kids don't mind sitting on the bottom either, my oldest actually prefers it right now. Plus it can be used as both a single or double and I love that flexibility.
The tandem strollers that I tried out were really difficult to push and that was without either of the girls in it. I also didn't like that one child was so far away from me.
I have the Bumbleride Indie Twin and I can't brag about it enough. It has such great maneuverability that I can push it very easily even with both girls in it. It seriously drives like a dream. I have yet to encounter a doorway that it doesn't fit through. It was compatible with our infant seat (Graco SnugRide 32) without having to buy an adapter. It folds up easily an fits in the back of our SUV with room to spare. I love that I can clearly see both girls and that I have easy access to them. All of the fabric is removeable and machine washable.
I had no idea I could love a stroller this much, LOL.
After a lot of researching and debating, I finally bit the bullet and bought a Phil & Teds Explorer. So far, I love it. It's incredibly easy to maneuver, folds up easily, and the second seat pops on and off very easily too. I "borrowed" my friend's LO so I could see how easy it is to push two kids, and it was a breeze. I loved that I didn't have to worry about any extra width or length in terms of stroller size, and so far, it's been SO easy to take everywhere/fit through aisles.

I'm thinking tandem for us because I think I'll be a jerk w/ all the walking w/ a side by side in the crowded streets of NY. If I lived in the burbs I'd probably get a side by side just because they seem to be a little less $$.
Re: Side by side or tandem stroller?
I test drove a whole slew of doubles...I definitely prefered the inline strollers!
We went with the Phil and Ted Explorer and I absolutely LOVE it. There are always good deals floating around online for P&T.
We currently have a SBS and plan to get a tandem as well. We love our SBS-it's a jogger and DH runs a lot.
We are getting a tandem as well. The SBS is very wide and hard to navigate around the mall/grocery store/etc.
