moving and then nothing

Am i the only one who has felt their LO move and then all of a sudden he/she just stopped? I have been sitting around all day waiting on Jr. to move and he hasn't done anything. What the heck? Im sure that he has moved just not to where i can feel it and that makes me sad.

Re: moving and then nothing

  • Yes! I felt movement throughout one morning a couple of weeks ago, and then one night and the next afternoon last week. Nothing in between or since!

  • I go from feeling her daily to nothing..from what I heard there isn't "normal" movement until about 28 weeks

  • Yup, this is completely normal according to what I've read.

Babies, like us, have their active periods and their lazy times and that can fluctuate from anywhere from hours to days or weeks.

  • I was sort of wigging about this all last night, because it had been two days since I had felt her, and she had been pretty active for a week.  Then, as soon as I went to bed, she started rolling around again, and has been all day.  Give it a bit.  I completely understand where you're coming from, but it's normal.

  • I was having a hard time at first determining if what I was feeling was the baby moving. I finally realized that it had to be, but it always felt muffled and then some days I didn't feel anything at all. At my 20-week u/s, I learned that my placenta is in the front, which can make movement difficult to feel. As I get farther along, I'll start to be able to feel her more. I think, like pp said, around 28 weeks it should be more regular.
  • This happened to me yesterday and it kind of freaked me out... however, today she's kicking me again so all is well! When they are small, if they change positions, we'll either feel more or less movement. .. or your baby could've just been tired and sleeping more.

  • I felt the baby move and then nothing but sporadic for a few weeks.  I'm back to feeling the baby now and now it's beginning to ramp up to consistent :-)

  • Funny you should post this because I was tossing and turning all night because I hadn't felt any movement that day or at night.  I was starting to get really worried, but I am glad to hear that this is normal.

  • Mine has days where she's active throughout the day and then there are times when she's pretty mellow. At first it did freak me out, but it's all normal
  • Thanks everyone, I am so glad to know that Im just freaking out for nothing. I guess since I have been feeling Jr. for a while that I just was use to him moving. So for him to stop is kinda weird feeling.

  • Yep, I feel ya. But I listened to his heartbeat on the doppler Monday night and it was chugging away. I could also hear swooshes that indicate he was moving around, but I didn't feel anything. They're in there, just not always making their presence known just yet!
