So I first started using OPKs the cycle that I got PG. I tested on CD 14 and got a + so we BIO that night and O+2 and we got PG one of those times. Now I'm trying to figure out what's going on after my m/c. Today is CD 12 and I got a super faint line. I tested yesterday too and got a darker line. How come it's getting lighter?? Shouldn't it be getting darker?? I've never tested this early in my cycle. I'm hoping my cycle is going to get back to normal after my m/c. Even though it's light today is there anyway I could still O on CD 14 or should I have a darker line by now?? We're still TTA this cycle, but I'm just trying to figure out what's going on with my body. Thanks for any input ladies! Sorry if it doesn't really make sense.
Re: Confused (OPK related)
I don't think the line necessarily needs to begin to gradually get darker. Unlike a hpt, the lines on an opk mean nothing. A positive is positive only if the line is the same color or darker than the control line. It may seems strange when you receive lighter and darker lines but it is just your body fluctuating throughout the day and not necessarily gearing up and getting darker as your approach O.
ETA: Hope that makes sense. It was hard to explain after all of the wine I've had! Hehe.

I've had my OPK's getting consistently darker each testing only to have them go the opposite direction. Frustrating as h*ll! Even with my fluctuating results, when I'm close to O time, they do give me my accurate positive. Hang in there.

All AL Always Welcome
How often are you testing, and what time of day? You always have some LH in your system, but most people find that testing in late afternoon makes it easiest to catch their surge. Ideally, around the time you've O'd previously, you should be testing 2-3 times a day. I started with just 1 OPK about 5 days earlier than when I O'd the previous month, and then when the line started to get darker a day later, I tested 3 times a day until I saw the line get lighter and fade out. I probably wouldn't have caught my surge if I had tested only once a day.
Good luck!
This.
That darker then lighter thing happens to me sometimes too but I think it's normal. There is a weird (but very informative in an anecdotal kind of way) website that has pictures of OPK's thru the month. www.peeonastick.com. Not that everyone is the same or anything but this site shows one girls OPK's and you can see how the line gets darker then lighter then really dark just before O. Wait for the test line to be at least as dark (ideally darker than) the control line to consider this positive and sometimes it can be positive for a day or too. If you're temping you can also tell in hindsight because then you'll get your temp spike within the next few days. Good luck!

This past cycle, same thing happened to me. They got lighter and lighter (after being kind of darker), and I was so confused. But then one day I noticed some EWCM big time, and that evening I did an opk, and it was VERY positive. So like others said, it doesn't have to progressively get darker. Could just... happen!
