Big Kid bedding

How much did you spend on your child's big kid bedding? And what size bed? I'm wanting to redo Abigail's room and looking for some cute bedding that goes with her existing wall color (tiffany blue-ish) and everything I find is $100 (for full)! Is that typical?

Re: Big Kid bedding

  • I got a twin comforter at Pottery Barn outlet for super cheap. I can't remember how much I paid, but I know it was a steal. It is yellow, which worked for us because the kids have a blue room with a yellow stripe. So I would say PBO and other outlet stores like that might be worth a look for something nice at a fraction of the cost.

I got her twin sheet sets at Target for $13 a set.

  • Gavin's room is Pottery Barn's Star Wars line.  My mom bought most of the pieces b/c Lord knows I wouldn't spend that much!  Now that they have this line at the outlet regularly, I have picked up a few extra pieces there for good prices.  I don't really care for the "bed in a bag" sets.  They never seem to be very soft materials to me.  I like to piece it together instead.  I always try to get a fairly neutral bedskirt- white, cream, tan, chocolate- something that I can use again with a different set.  Don't spend a lot on that- go to Walmart or Old Time Pottery or Garden Ridge.  Get some cute sheets and then focus on finding a lightweight quilt or duvet cover that matches.  Something that is easy to wash!  Ikea, Target, JCPenney.  Then a couple throw pillows and maybe a matching valance for the window and you're done :-)

  • homegoods but you have to catch it at the right time.
  • Ethan has a full sized bed and I bought his quilt and sheets at Target.  I probably spent around $80 to $100.

  • Jackson has a full size bed. I got his sheet set from Target and duvet cover from Target. I made all of his throw pillows. I think it was right at 100 maybe a tad more. I did get two fitted sheets and flat sheets. If that matters.
  • They have a lot of comforters at Pottery Barn Outlet that go with blue walls, might be worth the trip!  I get a lot of the kids stuff for their rooms there, but I live close and can check in often when there's something I'm wanting.

  • I just got the big kid room bedding from Pottery Barn Outlet. :) They had a pretty decent selection. We decided on full beds (only b/c I have a feeling more than one kiddo will end up sleeping together!) Most full size quilts at PBK ranged from $65 to $130 and twins were a little less.
  • Evie's bed was on the inexpensive side, I think.  I bought the linens at Target.  The sheets were not more than $20.  I also got her a water proof mattress cover.  I paid $100 for her comforter, but it is so worth it.  It is so warm and heavy.

The bed I got from IKEA.  The frame was not more than $150 and I think the same for the  mattress.

I agree with Stacie.  Bed in a bag is not worth it to me because I feel like the quality is not there.  Also, I don't necessarily like things to be matchy matchy or patterned.

    Good luck!

  • We're just about to do Oliver's "big boy" room.  I was planning on hitting up PBO for his bedding.
